LIVE BUILD - TIMBER FRAME PAVILION
This was a temporary timber frame display I helped construct during my course at CAT. It showcased different methods of timber frame construction and breathable wall types. Through the project we were able to learn these different methods of sustainable construction.

One of the timber frames being constructed. Each frame used a different construction method. I was heavily involved in building this Walter Segal inspired frame. We used 100x100mm posts with twin timber beams bolted either side.
One of the frames was constructed used traditional joinery techniques such as mortice and tenon joints.
The panels showed the full build-up of different breathable wall types. The panel on the right has sheepswool insulation between studs with horizontal cross-battens to avoid thermal bridging. OSB sheets act as racking and air-tightness layer with services cavity and plasterboard to the interior.
